Introduction
Direct Issuance is an enrollment method in which the Issuer initiates the Digital Credential issuance process using trusted, pre-verified attributes.
In this flow, the Digital Credential is not created from attributes extracted from a physical document during mobile enrollment.
Instead, the Issuer provides the attribute set through a backend-to-backend integration with the Digital Credential Platform which, in turn issues a unique QRCode or deeplink for the end-user to claim the identity within their Wallet application.
The end user continues the process in the iD Wallet app by scanning the QR code (user need to click option to add credential and choose "Scan a QR code" in the mobile app) or opening the deeplink. Depending on the configured business process, the credential may be issued directly or only after additional evidence gathering, such as selfie matching against a portrait provided by the Issuer.
